My favorite part of representing central New York: The privilege of spending time with families and friends across the district.
My number one priority - and the most important reason to get involved in the future of our State - is my family.
I’m not a career politician.  I come from the private sector as a businessman and educator, and I apply real-world common sense solutions to government problems.
The men and women who keep us safe on our streets, in our homes, in our schools, and in our freedoms are our neighbors.  It is an honor to support them.
I don’t want to make a career of politics.  I have specific ideas for creating new jobs – and when those are accomplished, I want to go back home to the private sector.

JOBS

Cutting Taxes To Grow Jobs.

Don Miller Delivers.

Two years ago, Don Miller promised to protect the jobs our families depend on by cutting taxes and controlling government spending.

Don delivered.

Independent

Don Miller is the most independent member of the State Legislature for two years in a row. Working for central New York families and employers by protecting our jobs and growing new ones demands a bold vision for new possibilities, and I’ve made it my business to deliver those new ideas in Albany.

That’s why I have the most independent voting record in state government.

Republican

Don has been a consistent voice for common sense job growth. I believe the families of central New York want Albany to act swiftly to protect the jobs that we have and grow new ones by cutting taxes and reducing government spending and debt, so that New York employers can compete once again.

Don Miller has been a committed leader in the Republican Party for 30 years.

Don’s common-sense conservative values: Protect families by protecting jobs

I’m from a farming family, and that sets your compass when it comes to principles about how I ought to treat my neighbor, conduct my business, and personal responsibility for the safety and growth of my family, my community, my country, and my government.

A New Independent Leader

I’m keeping my promise.

Two years ago when I first ran for office a woman at a seniors’ activity night asked me, “Don, you’re a good man; but after you’re in Albany, what’s to say you won’t just become one of them?”

I made a promise to that nice woman.  I told her I would lead from principle and not become another politician whose first goal is to get re-elected.

The results are in:  Leading from principle has made me the most independent member of the State Legislature – in either party, and in either house.  No one fights off the Albany insiders more persistently than I do.

Some say that means I don’t “work across the aisle to get things done.”  Well, when what the other side of “the aisle” wants to “get done” is killing off more jobs by raising taxes and padding politicians’ paydays, the criticism is true:  I will not go along to get along.

In fact, I have voted 85 times to stop more than $4.2 billion in tax increases in just my first term.

The Albany crowd calls me inflexible for standing so staunchly against their tax hikes – and they are right:  I will not compromise on jobs and taxes.

I have no desire to be a career politician.  If voting to protect jobs and grow new ones angers the Albany establishment, well, I guess they’re just going to have to come after me on Election Day.  And I expect they will.
